			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>TopLine Communications has won two awards for its education PR campaign against the government’s proposed changes to the student visa system. On Friday 11<sup>th</sup> November, the company’s work was recognised at the International Stevie Awards in New York, when it won the Best Issues Management Campaign 2011.</p>
<p>Last night, TopLine landed the Crisis and Issues Management Campaign of the Year Award at the prestigious PRCA awards in London.</p>
<p>TopLine, which is a PR and communications leader in the education, HR and recruitment sectors, ran an integrated PR, video production and social media campaign on behalf of Study Group to raise awareness of objections to proposed changes to the student visa system. The highly successful campaign resulted in coverage across the national, business, education and broadcast media and was branded an ‘unqualified success’ by PR Week.</p>
<p>Heather Baker, TopLine’s Managing Director, commented: “Our education PR team worked incredibly hard on this campaign and we are very proud of the results. It is fantastic to be recognised with these awards.”</p>

The nomination relates to work conducted in 2010/2011 on behalf of <a href="http://www.studygroup.com/">Study Group</a>, the leading supplier of international students to the UK higher education sector.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.toplinecomms.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/2011_08_17_Study-Group-case-study_comprehensive_FINAL_compressed1.pdf">education PR campaign</a> against proposed government changes to the student visa system saw Study Group working closely with competitors and other stakeholders in the sector to object to, among other issues, the raising of the minimum English language requirements for international students looking to study in the UK. TopLine worked with Study Group to bring the international education sector together to respond to the proposals in a press conference. As the UK’s education export sector is worth an estimated £40bn a year, the proposals were seen as a major threat to the sector and the economy.</p>
<p>A database of information on the confusing visa rules was also developed for the media, using, among other tools, requests to the UK Border Agency under the Freedom of Information Act.</p>
<p>The campaign resulted in 79 pieces of coverage, with 40 in Tier 1 media, and caught the attention of the media, the public and government. As a result of the media relations programme and the concurrent lobbying campaign it supported, the most controversial elements of the proposals were dropped.</p>
<p>Heather Baker, TopLine’s Managing Director of TopLine Communications, comments:</p>
<p>“We are delighted to see our PR work in the education sector recognised with an award nomination. Our team worked hard to understand this very complex issue and ensure the media saw both sides of the story in the face of much public support for the proposals. Congratulations to the team.”</p>

<p>Within one month of TLC Education Group appointing TopLine, the company featured on the BBC, The Guardian and in the Times Educational Supplement.</p>
<p>TLC Education Group was founded in July 2010 by managing director Simon Barnes and specialises in maths and English tuition, GCSE and common entrance exam preparation, for children aged between 6 and 16. It is the only tutoring organisation to have Learning Centres in schools all year around, and offers tailored one-to-one tuition programmes in small classroom environments with no more than five students per lesson.</p>
